Colorado Young Sinfonia

The Colorado Young Sinfonia was formed in the Spring of 2001 with the simple idea of gathering promising and talented young string players together to make music on a high level. The players (who range in age from 15-27) are hand-picked and/or nominated, and through this process and hard work the Sinfonia has quickly gained recognition as one of the top ensembles for young people in the area. Our goal is to present to our audiences not only wonderful performances of great works, but also to share with you our passion for the art of music-making and the wealth of creativity that comes through the playing of our instruments.

The CYS has presented over thirty concerts in the past four years, playing a wide variety of repertoire for varied audiences throughout the Denver metropolitan area. Mozart and Tchaikowsky have been blended with Diamond, Bartok, and Tcimpidis to create well balanced and challenging programs. We have collaborated with some of Denver’s most prominent performing artists, including Alice Rybak, Bil Jackson, Ricardo Iznaola and Mee-Ae Nam. The Colorado Young Sinfonia has received enthusiastic responses from its audiences and hopes to continue this pattern of excellence into the 2005-06 season and beyond.

Finally, the Colorado Young Sinfonia(a non-profit organization) survives through membership dues, donated services and private donations from individuals. These funds help to pay for music purchases, keyboard tunings, recording of the ensemble, venues, programs and much more. Next year we celebrate our fifth anniversary and hope to undertake projects that will reflect the past four years of success.
